மத் 7 : 7- 12 இத்தவக்காலத்தில் செபத்தின் முக்கியத்துவத்தையும், செபிப்பதின் விளைவுகளையும், நாம் எப்படி செபிக்க வேண்டும் என்பதையும் பல கோணங்களில் பார்க்கிறோம். இன்றைய நற்செய்தியும் செபத்தின் உள்ளார்ந்த அர்த்தத்தையும், ஆன்மீகத்தையும் நமக்கு எடுத்துரைக்கிறது. ‘கேளுங்கள் உங்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கப்படும்’ என்றவுடன் நாம் நமது தேவைகளை மளிகைக்கடை பட்டியல் போல எடுத்துவிட ஆரம்பித்து விடுகிறோம். அது பல நேரங்களில் எங்கு? எப்படி? தொடங்குகிறது என்றே தெரியாது. குறிப்பாக இன்று பலபேர் அருட்கொடை இயக்கத்தில் செபிப்பது போலவே செபிப்பது செபம் என்று நினைத்துக் கொள்கின்றனர். ஆனால் ஆண்டவர் நாம் கேட்கின்ற பொருளாதாரக் காரியங்களை விரும்பிக் கேட்பாரோ என்றால் அது கேள்விக் குறியே! காரணம் அவர் செல்வந்தர்களின் மனநிலையை அடியோடு வெறுக்கிறார். மிகுதியான உடைமைகளை வைத்திருப்பவர்களை அடித்து விரட்டுகிறார். இன்னுமொரு இடத்தில் “நீங்கள் இறைவனிடம் வேண்டும் பொழுது, நீங்கள் உள்ளறைக்குச் சென்று கதவை அடைத்துக் கொண்டு, மறைவாய் உள்ள உங்கள் தந்தையை நோக்கி வேண்டுங்கள்....

லூக் 11: 29 – 32 நாம் தவக்காலத்தை ஆரம்பித்து இன்றோடு ஒரு வாரம் ஆகின்றது. நம்மில் பல பேர் இந்த ஒரு வாரத்தில் பல வேண்டுதல்களோடும் கருத்துகளோடும் செபித்திருப்போம். சில புதுமைகளை அடையாளங்களைக் கேட்டிருப்போம். சிலருக்கு அடையாளங்கள் அரங்கேறியிருக்கும், சிலருக்கு ஏதும் நிகழாமல் இருந்திருக்கும். இன்று நம்மில் பலபேர் அடையாளங்களைத் தேடியும் புதுமைகளுக்காக அங்குமிங்கும் ஓடிக்கொண்டும் தான் இருக்கின்றோம். இயேசுவைக் காட்டிலும், போதகரின் மீது நம்பிக்கை வைத்து அலைந்தோடும் கூட்டம் தான் இன்றைய மிகப்பெரிய அவலநிலை. இப்படிப்பட்ட நமக்கு இன்றைய நற்செய்தி நல்லதொரு செய்தி. முதலில் அடையாளம் என்பது என்ன என்பதை நுட்பமாக கவனிக்க வேண்டும். அடையாளம் என்பது கண்ணுக்கு தெரிகின்ற ஒன்றின் மூலம் கண்ணுக்கு தெரியாத ஒன்றைச் சுட்டிக்காட்டுவது. எ.கா:- 1. நாம் நம் திருப்பலியில் பயன்படுத்துகின்ற தூபம், நம் செபங்களும் இத்தூபத்தைப்போல ஆண்டவரை நோக்கி எழுப்பவேண்டும் என்பதன் அடையாளமே. 2. நற்கருணைப்பேழைக்கு அருகிலிருக்கும் அணையாத விளக்கு ஆண்டவர்...
