(யோவான் 13 : 1-15) பாஸ்கா திருவிழா இஸ்ரயேலரின் பெரும் விழா. எகிப்தின் அடிமைத்தனத்திலிருந்து செங்கடலைக் கடந்து உரிமைப் பேறு பெற்றவர்களாய் மாறியதை நினைத்துக் கொண்டாடுகின்ற ஒரு பெருவிழா. பாஸ்கா விழா தொடங்க இருந்த நாளில் இயேசு நற்கருணையை உண்டாக்கியது அவர் நமக்களித்த விடுதலையையும், உரிமைப் பேற்றையும் சுட்டிக் காட்டுகிறது. இஸ்ரயேலர் அனைவரும் எகிப்திலிருந்து மீட்கப்பட்டு விடுதலைப் பெற்றதற்காக, அவர்கள் இவ்விழாவினை நன்றியின் விழாவாகவும் நினைவு கூர்கிறார்கள். நாம் கொண்டாடுகின்ற நற்கருணைப் பலியும் நன்றியின் பலியே. நற்கருணை என்ற சொல்லுக்கே ஆண்டவர் செய்த நன்மைகளுக்கு நன்றி என்பதே பொருள். என் உடல், என் இரத்தம் நற்கருணையே நமது வாழ்வின் மையம், ஊற்று. நற்கருணை இல்லாமல் திருஅவை இல்லை. குருத்துவமில்லாமல் நற்கருணை இல்லை. இந்த மூன்றும் இல்லாமல் கிறித்தவம் இல்லை. இன்று பல சபைகள் நற்கருணை இல்லாமலே நடந்து கொண்டிருக்கிறது. ஆனால் தொடக்கக் கிறித்தவர்களை ஒன்றிணைத்ததே இந்த நற்கருணை. நற்கருணையைச் சுற்றியே அனைத்தும்...

(மத்தேயு 26 : 14-25) இந்த புனித வாரம் முழுவதும் இயேசுவின் தற்கையளிப்பையும் அதனைச் சுற்றி நடந்த அனைத்தையும் பற்றியே சிந்தித்து, நம் வாழ்க்கையை அதனோடு ஒன்றித்து உரசிப்பார்க்க அழைப்புக் கொடுக்கிறது நமது தாய்த்திருச்சபை. ‘செம்மறியாம் கிறித்துவின் இரத்தம் விலைமதிக்கப்படாதது’ என்கிறார் பேதுரு (1பேதுரு : 1-19) அப்படிப்பட்ட இறையவனைக் காட்டிக் கொடுக்கப் பேரம் பேசிவிட்டு ஒன்றும் தெரியாதது போல் அவரோடு இணைந்தே பந்தியில் அமர்கின்றான் யூதாஸ். துரோகியை அரவணைப்பதிலும் இயேசு நமக்கு முன்னுதாரணமாகவும், முன்னோடியாகவும் இருக்கிறார். அவன் பேரம் பேசியது வெறும் முப்பது வெள்ளிக் காசுகளுக்கே. இது சாதாரண ஓர் அடிமையின் விலையாகக் கருதப்பட்டது. In today’s Gospel, Satan enters Judas — and “it was night…the triumph of darkness” (Jn 13:30; Lk 22:53). “Men loved darkness rather than light” (Jn 3:19). It wasn’t one bad day that caused Satan to enter Judas at the most holy environment of the Last Supper. Judas deteriorated little by little. It was the daily decisions to seek the power and lures of the kingdom of darkness rather than seeking the kingdom of God.
