Today, we pray for our mothers

Lord Jesus, on this day we bring to You our mothers and mother figures- those precious women who carried us in their wombs, nurtured us, prayed for us, corrected us and loved us, even while punishing us. A mother’s tears and prayers are never wasted; honour their cries for their children, Lord. Help those of us who are mums to become more like Mary and Anne. May we love and honour our own mothers who brought us painfully into this world, until that last breath leaves our nostrils. A special prayer for the motherless and the childless – that all the women saints in heaven will comfort them today. Amen.
