We Would See Jesus

Today’s Story We Would See Jesus We would see Jesus; for the shadows lengthen Across this little landscape of our life; We would see Jesus, our weak faith to strengthen For the last weariness, the final strife. We would see Jesus, the great rock Foundation Whereon our feet were set with sovereign grace; Nor life nor death, with all their agitation, Can thence remove us, if we see His face. We would see Jesus; other lights are paling, Which for long years we have rejoiced to see; The blessings of our pilgrimage are failing; We would not mourn them, for we go to Thee. We would see Jesus; yet the spirit lingers Round the dear objects it has loved so long, And earth from earth can scarce unclasp...

The Glory of Spring

The Glory of Spring I opened up the door this morning and did a little jig. I smiled at the falling rain even though the drops were big. Those drops didn’t discourage me as they fell on the window pane, before the dawn of sunshine I knew there’d be some rain For now the barren gardens are floating in muddy gloom, soon they’ll house the buds from where the flowers bloom. We’ve looked forward to a grand awakening that is happily in the works, a burst of new life from where the bare tree limb lurks. The snow has all...

An Unusual Act of Kindness

An Unusual Act of Kindness I am a 94-year-old woman. I had concluded checking out groceries at our local neighborhood market, and putting the bags in my shopping cart. But the customer said she wanted to pay for my groceries, and concluded her mission at the machine. Being totally in awe, I asked, “What is this – is it Christmas? Do you know me?” She...

A Smile

I am a mother of three (ages 14, 12, 3) and have recently completed my college degree. The last class I had to take was Sociology. The teacher was absolutely inspiring with the qualities that I wish every human being had been graced with. Her last project of the term was called “Smile.” The class was asked to go out and smile at three people and document their reaction. I am a very friendly person and always smile at everyone and say, hello anyway … so, I thought, this would be a piece of cake, literally. Soon after we were...

Love’s Garden

Love’s Garden There is a quiet garden, From the rude world set apart, Where seeds for Christ are growing; This is the loving heart. The tiny roots are loving thoughts; Sweet words, the fragrant flowers Which blossom into loving deeds, Ripe fruits for harvest hours. Thus in our hearts the seeds of love Am growing year by year; And we show our love for the Saviour, By loving His children here.
