HOPE FOR SINNERS

“You can depend on this as worthy of full acceptance: that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.” –1 Timothy 1:15 Paul was the worst sinner in the world (1 Tm 1:15), “an extreme case” (1 Tm 1:16). He was “a blasphemer, a persecutor, a man filled with arrogance” (1 Tm 1:13). Paul is “an example to those who would later have faith” in Jesus (1 Tm 1:16). Because the Lord changed Paul, He can change anybody – even your spouse, child, boss, enemy – even you! No matter how many abortions have been committed, how many children...

He remains faithful…

2 Timothy 2:13 If we are faithless, he remains faithful. He can’t deny himself.” (WEB) We know that Hebrew 11:6 says that without faith it is impossible to please God. We know that we are saved by faith through grace (Ephesians 2:8) which is a gift that we receive from God. Jesus told us that we can have whatever we can believe for. So needless to say, faith is an important part of our relationship with God. But what happens during the times when we struggle with doubt and unbelief? When our circumstances are screaming so loud that it is...

Grow in Wisdom by Serving God

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow His precepts have good understanding.” Psalms 111:10 To be educated is definitely an advantage in life. However, you can be highly educated and still suffer from spiritual want. For the Christian, sanctification must always receive priority over education. A person who is in the process of developing spiritually is closer to the heart of God and, therefore, he is more skilled in understanding God’s ways. A spiritual person has discovered the true Source of wisdom in life. There is purpose in his service to God. He possesses...

PLANK-EYED

“How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me remove the speck from your eye,’ yet fail yourself to see the plank lodged in your own?” –Luke 6:42 Jesus says we might have a plank lodged in our eye. If so, He’s doing us a big favor to tip us off. We need to remove this plank or we’ll blindly fall into the ditches of apathy, sin, hatred, unforgiveness, compulsive behavior, a selfish lifestyle, broken relationships, missed opportunities, or other such pitfalls (Lk 6:39). If we aren’t sure what our plank is, we must ask the Lord to identify...

Love covers…

1 Peter 4:7-8 But the end of all things is near. Therefore be of sound mind, self-controlled, and sober in prayer. And above all things be earnest in your love among yourselves, for love covers a multitude of sins. (WEB) This is yet another Scripture passage where we read ‘above all things’… love each other. No matter how great our Christian service, if it is not rooted and grounded in the love of God, it is for nought. No matter how many spiritual gifts we manifest, if love isn’t the motivation, then we really are powerless. In today’s reading, Peter...
