Today, we pray for the elderly

Lord Jesus, today we bring to You the oldest members of our families and society. We pray that Your presence comforts them in their loneliness. Keep them focused on You, rather than on their aches and anxieties. We pray specially for those who are living alone. Watch over our parents and grandparents, Oh Jesus. May they have angels for their aid whenever they are alone. Help us serve them well, all their lives. Amen.

Today, we pray for those who feel lost

Lord Jesus, we pray for those who feel lost and empty. On that Holy Saturday after Your death, the ones who loved You would have felt lost, alone and empty. They would have struggled to understand the situation. We pray for all those who, on this day, feel lost and empty in life and are unable to understand their broken situations. Be with them this day and comfort them as You lead them on to the resurrection experience. Amen.

Today, we pray for the hungry

Lord Jesus, today we bring to You those among us who are hungering for a square meal. Lord, have mercy on our cruel world where the wealthy are enjoying the best of luxuries while millions are starving. We also surrender our hunger for love, care and fellowship. We especially submit the vulnerable – the old, the children and the lonely, who do not have anyone to offer them a morsel and have to fend for themselves daily. May those who are hungry be filled, by You and by Your creations who live Your love. Amen.

Today, we pray for pregnant women

Lord Jesus, today we bring to Your presence our pregnant wives, sisters, mothers and friends. We pray that theirs wombs and babies are blessed. May the men who are to give them care and love, do so, with Your touch. Hold their babies. May Your angels, Saint Anne and Mother Mary give the mums relief from their discomforts. Bless them with safe and happy confinement and smooth labour. Bless their men too. Amen.

Today, we pray for travellers

Lord Jesus, we pray for those among us who are travelling. We pray that You will keep each one of us safe and protected by Your constant care when we move from one place to another. Give us travelling mercies. Keep our loved ones who are on the move by air, road or water – safe from death, disease or catastrophes. May Your angels surround us now and forever – right from the time we step out to make our journey and to the time when we are back home. Amen
