Today, we pray for alcoholics

Lord Jesus, today we bring to You those who are addicted to alcohol. Jesus, only You can heal these men and women who are caught in the web of intoxication. We pray that our youth especially, are protected from falling into this temptation. A special prayer for the spouses, parents and children of alcoholics. May our homes and organisations be places where individuals can celebrate without drinking. Heal all the alcoholics who we have ever known. Amen.

Today, we pray for the elderly

Lord Jesus, today we bring to You the oldest members of our families and society. We pray that Your presence comforts them in their loneliness. Keep them focused on You, rather than on their aches and anxieties. We pray specially for those who are living alone. Watch over our parents and grandparents, O Jesus. May they have angels for their aid whenever they are alone. Help us serve them well all their lives. Amen.

Today, we pray for the grace to know you better

Lord Jesus, today we bring to You our lack of trust in You. The fear, the doubt and the torment that we inflict upon ourselves, not knowing the extent of Your love for us. Lord, may we come to know Your love, even though it can never be completely known. May we never raise our thoughts, words or actions against You. Bless us to become truly Your children who know You. And when we truly know You, may we bring many more into Your fold. Amen.

Today, we pray for missionaries

We pray in particular for those stuck in faraway lands, surrounded by hostile forces. When troubles and turmoils come, be their strength. Give all of Your missionary servants the humility, simplicity, grace, honesty, dedication and most importantly, Your kind of love – that live up to their calling. Amen.

Today, we pray over our losses

Lord Jesus, today we bring to You everything that we count as a loss in our lives today. The failed interview, the lost finances, our blocked education, the broken home, the lost relationship, the thwarted plans, the insulted friendship, the shattered dreams, the destroyed ministry and many more. Lord of restoration, when You breathe life into our losses, they become precious gains once again. May no child of Yours despair today over anything that he or she has lost. May we keep our eyes focused on what lies ahead – victory in Your name and by Your power. And may...
