People are usually very resistant to limitations on their food consumption or sexual activity. However, the Gentile Christians read the letter containing their new orders with “great delight at the encouragement it gave” (Acts 15:31). கடவுள் முன்னிலையில் நிற்பதற்கே நாம் தகுதியற்றவர்கள். அப்படியிருக்கக்கூடிய நமக்கு கடவுள் தகுதியைக்கொடுத்து, நம்மை தேர்ந்தெடுத்திருக்கிறார். எதற்காக நம்மைத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்திருக்கிறார்? நம்மைத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்தத்ற்கு ஏதாவது காரணம் உண்டா? நிச்சயம் உண்டு. கடவுள் நம்மை மகிழ்ச்சியாக இருப்பதற்காகத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்தார். கிறிஸ்தவ அழைப்பு என்பது மகிழ்ச்சியான வாழ்வுக்கான ஓர் அழைப்பு. மகிழ்ச்சி என்பது இந்த உலகம் தருகின்ற மகிழ்ச்சி அல்ல. மாறாக, கடவுள் கொடுக்கும் மகிழ்ச்சி. கடவுள் நம்மை ஒருவர் மற்றவரை அன்பு செய்வதற்காகவும் அழைத்திருக்கிறார். தந்தை மகனை அன்பு செய்வது போல, மகன் தந்தையை அன்பு செய்வது போல நாம் ஒருவர் மற்றவரை அன்பு செய்ய வேண்டாம். நாம் அனைவரும் இந்த உலகத்திற்கு அன்பு செய்வதற்காகவே வந்திருக்கிறோம். மற்றவர்களோடு போட்டியிடுவதற்கு அல்ல, வாக்குவாதத்தில் ஈடுபட அல்ல, மாறாக, நாம் மற்றவர்களை அன்பு செய்வதற்காக பிறந்தவர்கள் என்பதை வாழ்ந்து காட்டுவதற்காகத்தான் நாம் அழைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறோம். அதை நாம் வாழ்ந்து காட்ட வேண்டும். ஏதோ பிறந்தோம், வாழ்ந்தோம் என்றில்லாமல்,...
