“அனைத்திலும் முதன்மையான கட்டளை எது?” என ஒரு கேள்வியை எழுப்பி, அதற்கான விடைக்குத் தனது சொந்த விளக்கத்தையும் அளித்த மறைநூல் அறிஞர் ஒருவரை இயேசு “நீர் இறையாட்சியினின்று தொலையில் இல்லை” எனப் பாராட்டும் நிகழ்வை இன்றைய நற்செய்தி வாசகத்தில் வாசிக்கிறோம். இந்தப் பாராட்டிலிருந்து நாம் கற்றுக்கொள்ளும் பாடங்கள்: மறைநூல் அறிஞரின் அறிவுத் திறனை இயேசு பாராட்டுகிறார். அறிவாற்றல் இறைவனைப் பற்றி அறிவதில், வாழ்வின் மதிப்பீடுகளை தெரிந்துகொள்வதில் செலவழிக்கப்படுவது பாராட்டுக்குரியது. மாறாக, இறைவனை மறுப்பதற்கோ, இறையாட்சி மதிப்பீடுகளைச் சிதைப்பதற்கோ பயன்படுத்தப்படும் அறிவு அழிவுக்குரியது. அறிவாற்றல் மிக்க மறைநூல் அறிஞரின் ஆர்வம் இங்கே பாராட்டப்படுகிறது. அந்த ஆர்வத்தின் காரணமாகத்தான், இயேசு “சதுசேயர்களுக்கு நன்கு பதில் கூறிக்கொண்டிருந்ததைக் கண்டு” தாமும் கேள்வி கேட்க முன்வந்தார். “அணுகி வந்தார்” என்னும் சொல்லாடல் கவனத்திற்குரியது. ஆர்வம் இருந்தால் அணுகிவரவேண்டும். மறைநூல் அறிஞரின் திறந்த மனதை இயேசு பாராட்டினார். அறிவும், ஆர்வமும் மிக்க பலரும் இறையாட்சியை நெருங்கிவருவதில்லை. காரணம், அவர்களிடம்...

“I have designated a widow there to provide for you.” –1 Kings 17:9 The Lord designated a widow to provide for Elijah during a famine. The Lord chose someone to provide for Elijah who was so poor that she and her son were about to die of starvation (1 Kgs 17:12). The Lord continues to designate people to provide for His Church, His poor, and all of His other ministries. Also, the Lord continues to designate not only rich people to fund His Church but also very poor people. These poor people don’t see how they can support the Church...

1 Samuel 12:22 (WEB) For Yahweh will not forsake his people for his great name’s sake, because it has pleased Yahweh to make you a people to himself. Promise #157: I will not abandon you, for I am glad to make you my own. Many people live with an abiding fear that they may be abandoned at any moment. Some of us feel like this because people have let us down in the past while others just don’t live with a deep sense of belonging to anything or anyone. Lord Jesus, there is no one who uses the power of words to heal as much as You do. We pray for Christians who inflict deep wounds with their tongue, without a care for others’ feelings. We pray that the ones who are at the receiving end – can heal, forgive and forget too, by Your grace. May we too become the kind of people who are gentle and loving in our speech. Let the anger, unforgiving attitude and hatred melt away when we are touched by You daily. Heal our tongues, Lord Jesus. Amen.
