திருக்காட்சிப் பெருவிழா

திருக்காட்சி விழா கொண்டாடப்படுவதன் பிண்ணனி நீண்ட நெடியது. இதற்கு மற்ற சமயங்களில் இருந்த பழக்கவழக்கங்கள் அடிப்படையானது. குறிப்பாக எகிப்தில் இருந்த மற்ற மதங்களின் பழக்கங்களில் இருந்து, அங்கு வாழ்ந்த கிறிஸ்தவர்கள் பலவற்றைப் புகுத்தினர். அந்த நீண்ட நெடிய பயணம் தான், திருக்காட்சி விழா. தொடக்கத்தில் கிறிஸ்து பிறப்பு விழா, திருக்காட்சி திருவிழா மற்றும் ஆண்டவரின் திருமுழுக்கு ஆகிய மூன்று விழாக்களும் ஒரு சேர கொண்டாடப்பட்டது என்று சொல்லப்படுகிறது. பின்னாட்களில் ஜனவரி முதல் தேதிக்குப்பிறகு வரக்கூடிய ஞாயிறு மற்றும் அதனைத்தொடர்ந்த ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமையில், திருக்காட்சி விழாவும், ஆண்டவரின் திருமுழுக்கு விழாவும் கொண்டாடப்பட, வழிபாட்டு ஒழுங்குகள் பணித்தது. இன்றைக்கு திருக்காட்சி விழா, மூன்று அரசர்களின் விழாவாக மக்களால் அறியப்படுகிறது. இது ஆண்டவரின் விழாவாகும். நற்செய்தியில் அரசர்கள் குழந்தை இயேசுவை காணவந்ததாகச் சொல்லப்படுகிறது. ஆனால், அவர்களின் பெயர்கள் குறிப்பிடப்படவில்லை. இருந்தாலும், பாரம்பரியப்படி ஒன்பதாம் நூற்றாண்டில் கஸ்பார், மெல்கியோர், பல்தசார் என்ற பெயர்கள் சொல்லப்பட்டன. விண்மீனின் வழிகாட்டுதல், அவர்கள்...

விருந்தோம்பல் என்பது மத்திய கிழக்குப் பகுதியில் புனிதமான ஒன்றாகக் கருதப்பட்டது. அறிமுகமில்லாத நபர்கள் வந்தாலும், அவர்களுக்குத் தேவையான அனைத்தையும் கவனிப்பது ஒரு யூதரின் முக்கியக் கடமையாக இருந்தது. அறிமுகமில்லாத நபர்களுக்கே இப்படி என்றால், விருந்தினர்களுக்கு எப்படிப்பட்ட உபசரிப்பு கொடுக்கப்பட வேண்டும் என்பதை சொல்லித் தெரிய வேண்டியதில்லை. பொதுவாக விருந்தில் திராட்சை இரசம் பரிமாறப்பட்டது. திராட்சை இரசம் மகிழ்ச்சியின், விருந்தின் அடையாளம். அதில் தண்ணீர் கலந்து பரிமாறினார்கள். ஆக, திருமண விருந்து வீடு. விருந்தினர்கள் வந்திருக்கிறார்கள். அது மகிழ்ச்சியின் இடம். இப்படிப்பட்ட இடத்தில் திராட்சை இரசம் தீர்ந்துவிட்டது என்றால், நிச்சயம் அதைவிட திருமண வீட்டார்க்கு அவமானம் ஏதுமில்லை. அவர்களின் நிலைமை படுமோசமானதாக இருந்தது. பாலஸ்தீனம் பகுதியில் ஏழைகளும், வறியவர்களும் மிகுந்திருந்தனர். உணவுக்காக கடுமையாக அவர்கள் உழைக்க வேண்டியிருந்தது. அப்படியிருக்கிறவர்களுக்கு, திருமண விருந்து என்பது, அந்த வேதனைகளை எல்லாம் மறந்து மகிழ்ச்சியாக இருக்க வேண்டிய தருணமாக, இருக்க வேண்டும். அந்த கொண்டாட்டத்திற்கு வழியே இல்லையென்றால்,...
