திருச்சிலுவைப் பெருவிழா

நம் ஆண்டவராகிய இயேசு கிறிஸ்து இறந்த சிலுவையானது சாதாரண பொருளாக அல்ல. மாறாக, தியாகத்தின் சின்னமாக, நினைவாகக் கருதப்படுகிறது. இயேசுவின் பாடுகள், அவருடைய இறப்பு மற்றும் உயிர்ப்பு தான் கிறிஸ்தவத்தின் விசுவாசத்தை உலகிற்கு கொண்டு வந்தது. எனவே தான் தூய பவுலடியார் கொரிந்தியருக்கு எழுதிய முதல் திருமுகத்தில் (1: 17, 18) ”திருமுழுக்கு கொடுப்பதற்கு அல்ல, நற்செய்தியை அறிவிக்கவே கிறிஸ்து என்னை அனுப்பினார். மனித ஞானத்தின் அடிப்படையிலான சொற்களில் இந்நற்செய்தியை அறிவித்தலாகாது. அவ்வாறு அறிவித்தால் கிறிஸ்துவின் சிலுவை பொருளற்றுப்போய்விடும். சிலுவை பற்றியச் செய்தி அழிந்து போகிறவர்களுக்கு மடமையே. ஆனால், மீட்புப்பெறும் நமக்கோ அது கடவுளின் வல்லமை” என்று கூறுகிறார். நான்காம் நூற்றாண்டின் முதல் பகுதியில் திருச்சிலுவையின் பக்தி முயற்சியை நாம் காண முடிகிறது. அலெக்சாண்டிரியன் குறிப்பேடு வழங்கும் சான்றுப்படி கான்ஸ்டன்டைன் தாயான ஹெலன் (இலேனம்மாள்) அரசி தான், ஆண்டவரின் திருச்சிலுவையை செப்டம்பர் 14, 320 அன்று கண்டுபிடித்தார். அதன்பின் 13 செப்டம்பா்...

இறைவனின் வருத்தம்

இந்த உலகத்தில் கடவுள் நம்மைப் படைத்தார் என்றால், அதற்கு முழுமையான நோக்கம், நாம் அனைவரும் மகிழ்ச்சியாக வாழ வேண்டும் என்பதுதான். இந்த உலகத்தின் படைப்புக்களில் எல்லாம் சிறந்த படைப்பாக, மனிதர்களைப் படைத்தார். அவர்களை படைப்பின் சிகரமாக உண்டாக்கினார். அவர்களுக்கு பல சுதந்திரங்களையும் கொடுத்தார். இவ்வளவு செய்தாலும், மனித இனம் தன்னைப் படைத்தவரை நன்றியோடு நினைத்துப்பார்க்கவில்லை. இன்றைய நற்செய்தியின் வெளிப்பாடு, கடவுளின் கோபம் என்பதை விட, கடவுளின் மனவருத்தம் என்பதே யதார்த்தமான நிலையாக இருக்கிறது. மனிதன் மகிழ்ச்சியாக வாழத் தேவையான அனைத்தையும் கடவுள் கொடுத்திருக்கிறார். ஆனால், மனித இனம் மகிழ்ச்சியாக இல்லை. காரணம், சுயநலம். எல்லாரும் இன்புற்றிருக்க வேண்டும் என்ற எண்ணமில்லாமல், தான் மட்டும் தான் மகிழ்ச்சியாக இருக்க வேண்டும் என்கிற குறுகிய மனம் தான், மனிதனின் மகிழ்ச்சியற்ற நிலைக்கு காரணமாக இருக்கிறது. தான் மகிழ்ச்சியாக இல்லையென்றாலும் பரவாயில்லை. மற்றவர்கள் மகிழ்ச்சியாக வாழ்ந்துவிடக்கூடாது என்கிற எண்ணம், இன்றைய நாகரீக மனிதனின் நெஞ்சத்தில் பசுமரத்தாணி...
