பின்தொடர்ந்தது. இயேசுவை அவர்கள் கடவுளின் பிரதிநிதியாகவே பார்த்தார்கள். இயேசுவிடத்தில் ஏதோ அதிசயிக்கத்தக்க ஒன்றை மக்கள் உணர்ந்திருக்க வேண்டும். அதனால் தான் அவரை ஏராளமான மக்கள் பின்தொடர்ந்தார்கள். இயேசு மக்கள் மத்தியில் பிரபலமடைந்துவிட்டார் என்பதையே மறைநூல் அறிஞர்களின் வருகை எடுத்துக்காட்டுகிறது. ஏனென்றால், போதிப்பவர்களில் உண்மையானவர் அல்லது போலியானவர் என்பதை, தலைமைச்சங்கம் முடிவு செய்தது. மக்கள் மத்தியில் இயேசு புகழ்பெற்றதனால், அவரைப்பற்றி தெரிந்து கொள்வதற்காக, அறிஞர்கள் அங்கே வந்திருந்தனர். இயேசு எப்படி பாவங்களை மன்னிக்கலாம்? என்பது அவர்களின் கேள்வியாக இருந்தது. ஏனென்றால், கடவுள் ஒருவர் மட்டும் தான் பாவங்களை மன்னிக்க முடியும். அப்படியிருக்க இயேசு, உன் பாவங்கள் மன்னிக்கப்பட்டன, என்று எப்படிச் சொல்லலாம், என்று அவர்கள் கோபத்தில் இருக்கிறார்கள். இயேசு தனக்கு பாவங்களை மன்னிக்க அதிகாரம் இருக்கிறது என்பதை, அழகாக அவர்களுக்கு, எடுத்துக்காட்டு மூலமாக விவரிக்கிறார். அவர்களால் பதில் சொல்லவும் முடியாமல், என்ன சொல்வதென்றும் புரியாமல் விழிக்கிறார்கள். இங்கே இயேசு ஒரு ஆழமான செய்தியைத்தருகிறார்....
