THE GOOD NEWS, NOT THE BAD NEWS

“Jesus disregarded the report that had been brought.” –Mark 5:36 “He put them all out.” –Mark 5:40 Jesus refused to listen to humanity’s interpretation of an event. He put the naysayers out of the room. He disregarded the news that was reported of a girl’s death. Jesus saw beyond the externals and looked at the heart of the matter (see 1 Sm 16:7). இறைநம்பிக்கை எது?

தொழுகைக்கூடத்தலைவர் பதவி என்பது யூத மக்களால் மதிப்பும், மரியாதையுமிக்க ஒரு பதவி. தொழுகைக்கூடத்தில் நடைபெறும் அனைத்து செயல்பாடுகளுக்கும் அவர்தான் பொறுப்பு. அப்படிப்பட்ட நபர் இயேசுவிடத்திலே உதவிக்கு வந்தார் என்பது ஆச்சரியமான செய்தி. ஏனென்றால், இயேசுவின் போதனைகளும், புதுமைகளும் மக்களிடையே வரவேற்பைப் பெற்றிருந்த போதிலும், மேல்மட்டத்தலைவர்களிடையே வெறுப்பைத்தான் சந்தித்திருந்தது. இயேசுவைப்பற்றி தவறான எண்ணங்கள் அவர்களிடையே மேலோங்கியிருந்தது. அதனால் தான், தொடக்கத்தில் தொழுகைக்கூடங்களில் போதிப்பதற்கு கொடுக்கப்பட்ட வாய்ப்புகள் பிற்காலத்தில் அவ்வளவாக இயேசுவுக்கு கிடைத்திருக்கவில்லை. அப்படிப்பட்ட சூழ்நிலையில் ஒரு தொழுகைக்கூடத்தலைவர் இயேசுவைத்தேடி வருவது, மேல்மட்டத்தலைவர்கள் மத்தியில் அவருக்கு அவப்பெயரைப்பெற்றுத்தரலாம். அதையெல்லாம் மீறி அவர் இயேசுவிடத்திலே உதவிக்கு வந்திருப்பது, இயேசுவின் மீது அவர் வைத்திருந்த நம்பிக்கை மற்றும் மகள் மீது வைத்திருந்த பாசம். சிறுமி இறந்துவிட்டாள். போதகரைத்தொந்தரவு செய்ய வேண்டாம் என்ற செய்தி கிடைத்தபோதிலும், இயேசு அவரிடத்திலே நம்பிக்கையை மட்டும் விடாமலிருக்கச்சொல்கிறார். தொழுகைக்கூடத்தலைவர் வந்ததே நம்பிக்கையில்தான். ஏனெனில் அவருடைய மகள் வருகின்றபோதே சாகுந்தருவாயில் இருந்தார். அதாவது, மருத்துவர்களால்...

இயேசுவின் பரந்த மனம்

இயேசுவின் இன்றைய வார்த்தைகள், யூதர்களின் நம்பிக்கை பற்றிய பார்வையை அடியோடு புரட்டிப்போடுகின்ற வார்த்தைகள். நூற்றுவர் தலைவன், தனது பையனை குணப்படுத்த இயேசுவின் உதவியை நாடுகிறார். அதில் உள்ள பிரச்சனையும் அவருக்குத் தெரியும். யூதச்சட்டப்படி, ஒரு யூதர் புற இனத்தவரின் வீட்டிற்குச் செல்லக்கூடாது. புறவினத்தார் வாழக்கூடிய பகுதிகள், யூதர்களின் பார்வையில் தூய்மையற்றவை. இயேசு ஒரு யூதர். நூற்றுவர் தலைவன் ஒரு புற இனத்தவர். இந்த சிக்கல் இரண்டு பேருக்குமே தெரியும். அப்படியிருந்தும், இயேசு ”நான் வந்து அவனைக் குணப்படுத்துவேன்” என்று சொல்கிறார். இயேசு தெரியாமல் சொல்லவில்லை. மாறாக, மற்றவர்களின் பதிலை, எதிர்வினையை எதிர்பார்த்துச் சொல்கிறார். இங்கே தான், நூற்றுவர் தலைவனின் ஆழ்ந்த விசுவாசம் வெளிப்படுகிறது. அந்த விசுவாசத்தை பாராட்டும் இயேசு, அடுத்த ஒரு இடி போன்ற செய்தியை அறிவிக்கிறார். அதாவது, ”கிழக்கிலும், மேற்கிலுமிருந்து பலர் வந்து, ஆபிரகாம், ஈசாக்கு, யாக்கோபு ஆகியோருடன் விண்ணரசின் பந்தியில் அமர்வர்” என்பதுதான் அந்த செய்தி. மெசியா வருகிறபோது,...

He calls the Church His Body (e.g. Eph 1:22-23), His bride (see Eph 5:25-27), and “My Church” (Mt 16:18).
