இயேசு வாழ்ந்த காலம் புதுமைகளுக்கு பெயர் போன காலம். பல போதகர்களால் புதுமைகளும் அற்புதங்களும் அரங்கேறின. புதுமைகள் பொதுவாக நடக்கக்கூடிய நிகழ்வுகளாக இருந்தன. பல நோய்கள் உளவியல் நோய்களாக இருந்தன. கடவுளின் பெயரைச்சொல்லி வேண்டுகிறபோது, கடவுள் மீது உள்ள நம்பிக்கை, பல பேருக்கு சுகத்தை கொடுத்தது. இந்த பிண்ணனியில் தான், நாம் இந்த நற்செய்தி வாசகத்தைப் புரிந்து கொள்ள முடியும். தொடக்ககால திருச்சபை தலைவர்கள், புதுமைகளை மறுக்கவில்லை. தொடக்ககால திருச்சபையில் இயேசுவை நம்பாத சிலரும், உதட்டளவில் இயேசுவின் பெயரைச் சொல்லி, பல பேய்களை ஓட்டினர். ஆனால், கடவுளை நம்பாதவர்கள், கடவுளின் பெயரைச் சொல்லி காரியம் சாதிக்கிறபோது, அதற்கான விளைவை, அவர்கள் சந்தித்தே ஆக வேண்டும் என்பது இயேசு கொடுக்கிற எச்சரிக்கை செய்தி. புதுமைகள் செய்வதனாலோ, கடவுளின் பெயரால் காரியங்கள் சாதிப்பதனாலோ, ஒருவர் கடவுளுக்கு உகந்தவர் ஆகிவிட முடியாது. கடவுளுக்கு ஒருவர் உகந்தவர் ஆக வேண்டுமென்றால், கிறிஸ்தவத்தை முழுமையாக வாழ முயற்சி எடுக்க...

திருப்பாடல் 105: 1 – 2, 3 – 4, 6 – 7, 8 – 9 இறைவன் வாக்குறுதி மாறாதவர் என்கிற சிந்தனையை திருப்பாடல் ஆசிரியர் கூறுகிறார். வாக்குறுதி என்பது என்ன? ஒரு மனிதர் சக மனிதருக்கு “இதைச் செய்கிறேன்” என்று, உறுதி செய்வது தான், வாக்குறுதி. சொல்கிற வாக்கை நிறைவேற்றுவது வாக்குறுதி. இறைவன் பல வாக்குறுதிகளை, தான் படைத்த மனிதர்களுக்கு வழங்கியிருக்கிறார். தொடக்க நூலில் நாம் பார்க்கிற முதல் மனிதரிலிருந்து ஆபிரகாம், ஈசாக்கு, யாக்கோபு, நோவா என்று இந்த பட்டியல் நீண்டு கொண்டே செல்கிறது. வாக்குறுதி கொடுத்த மனிதர்கள் தங்கள் வாக்குறுதியிலிருந்து தவறியிருக்கிறார்கள். ஆனால், கடவுள் ஒருபோதும் தவறியது கிடையாது. கடவுள் கொடுத்த வாக்குறுதிகளை நிர்பந்தமான வாக்குறுதிகள், நிர்பந்தம் இல்லாத வாக்குறுதிகள் என இரண்டு வகையாகப் பிரிக்கலாம். நிர்பந்தமான வாக்குறுதி என்பது, மனிதன் இதைச்செய்தால், கடவுளும் செய்வதற்கு கட்டுப்பட்டவர் என்பது பொருள். கடவுள் அனைத்தையும் கடந்தவர் என்றாலும்,...
