மத்தேயு 20:20-28 இன்று பெருமகிழ்வோடு நாம் புனித பெரிய யாக்கோபு நினைவு நாளைக் கொண்டாடுகிறோம். இவர் பெரிய யாக்கோபு என்றும் சந்தியாகப்பர் என்றும் அழைக்கப்படுகிறார். இவர் பெத்சாய்தா ஊரைச் சார்ந்த செபதேயு, சலோமி ஆகியோரின் மகன். ஏன் இவரை பெரிய யாக்கோபு என்று அழைக்கின்றனர் என்பதற்கு, மற்றவர்களை விட வயதில் மூத்தவராக இருந்தவர். பெரிய உடல்வாகு உடையவர். அல்பேயுவின் மகன் யாக்கோபுவுக்கு முன்னதாக இயேசுவினால் அழைக்கப்பட்டவர் போன்ற பல்வேறு காரணங்கள் இருக்கின்றன. இவ்வுலகில் வாழும் மனிதர்கள் பெரிய பணக்காரர்களாக மாற வேண்டும் என அதிகமாக ஆசைப்படுகின்றனர். அதற்காகவே வாழ்நாள் முழுவதும் செலவழிக்கின்றனர். செலவழித்த பின் அமைதியின்றி, அனந்தமின்றி அலைகின்றனர். இதன் விளைவாக வாழ்வே மாயம் இந்த வாழ்வே மாயம் என சோகப் பாடல்களை பாடிக் கொண்டு திரின்றனர். இப்படிப்பட்ட சூழ்நிலையில் புனித பெரிய யாக்கோபு விழா நம்மை பெரிய பணக்காரர்களாக மாற அன்புடன் அழைக்கின்றது. எதில் பெரிய பணக்காரர்களாக மாற வேண்டும்....

திருப்பாடல் 78: 18 – 19, 23 – 24, 25 – 26, 27 – 28 “இருக்க இடம் கொடுத்தால் படுக்க பாய் கேட்பான்” என்று சொல்வது பழமொழி. ஒட்டகத்திற்கு இடம் கொடுத்த கதையைக் கேட்டிருப்போம். இன்றைய திருப்பாடலை வாசிக்கிறபோது, இதுதான் ஞாபகத்திற்கு வருகிறது. இஸ்ரயேல் மக்கள் எகிப்தில் அடிமைகளாக இருக்கிறார்கள். அவர்கள் கண்ணீரோடு கடவுளிடம் முறையிடுகிறார்கள். அவர்களது முறையீடு எப்படி அமைந்திருக்கும்? எப்படியாவது இந்த இன்னல்களிலிருந்து கடவுள் தங்களை மீட்க வேண்டும் என்பதாகத்தான் அவர்களது மன்றாட்டு அமைந்திருக்கும். கடவுள் அவர்களை விடுவிக்கிறார். விடுதலை என்பது எளிதானது அல்ல. ஒரே இரவில் பெறக்கூடியது அல்ல. அதற்கு பலவாறு நாம் உழைக்க வேண்டும். இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களை கடவுள் விடுவிக்கக்கூடிய நிகழ்வு எவ்வளவு சவாலானது என்பது ஒவ்வொருவருக்கும் நன்றாக தெரியும். இவ்வளவு செய்த கடவுள் அவர்களை பாலைநிலத்திற்கு பாதுகாப்பாக கொண்டு வருகிறார். இறைவன் செய்திருக்கிற இவ்வளவு காரியங்களுக்கே இஸ்ரயேல் மக்கள் நன்றி...
