திருத்தூதர் பணி 8: 1 – 8 அழுகை, மகிழ்ச்சி என்கிற இரண்டுவிதமான உணர்வுகளையும் சேர்த்து, இந்த வாசகம் நமக்கு தருகிறது. அழுகைக்கு காரணம் என்ன? ஸ்தேவான் இறந்துவிட்டார். கிறிஸ்துவின் நற்செய்தியை துணிவோடு அறிவித்த ஸ்தேவான் கொலை செய்யப்பட்டுவிட்டார். அது மட்டுமல்ல, கிறிஸ்தவர்களை சவுல் துன்புறுத்துகிறார். மகிழ்ச்சிக்கு காரணம் என்ன? பிலிப்பு நற்செய்தியை அறிவிக்கின்றார். மக்கள் நடுவில் பல புதுமைகளைச் செய்கிறார். ஆக, ஒருபுறத்தில் மக்கள் கவலையினாலும், துன்பங்களினால் தவித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிறார்கள். மறுபுறத்தில், மக்கள் மகிழ்ச்சியின் விளிம்பில் இருந்து கொண்டிருக்கிறார்கள். ஸ்தேவானின் இறப்பு நிச்சயம் மக்களுக்கு மிகப்பெரிய இழப்பை உருவாக்கியிருக்க வேண்டும். இதற்கு மேல், தங்களுக்கு கடவுளுடைய வார்த்தையை யார் போதிப்பார்கள்? என்கிற எண்ணம் சந்தேகமாய் எழுந்திருக்க வேண்டும். ஆனால், கடவுளின் திட்டம் அற்புதமானது, ஆச்சரியத்தை உண்டு பண்ணக்கூடியது என்பதை மக்கள் அறிந்திருப்பார்கள். அதனுடைய வெளிப்பாடு தான், இந்த கவலையும், மகிழ்ச்சியும். கடவுளின் மீட்புத் திட்டம் ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட மனிதரோடு முடிந்து விடுவதில்லை....

திருத்தூதர் பணி 7: 51 – 8: 1 ஸ்தேவான் கடுமையான வார்த்தைகளால் மக்களையும், மூப்பர்களையும், மறைநூல் அறிஞர்களையும் சாடுகிறார். அவருடைய கடுமையான வார்த்தைகளுக்கு காரணம் இல்லாமல் இல்லை. அவர்கள் அனைவரும் மாசற்ற இயேசுவைக் கொலை செய்துவிட்டார்கள் என்பது தான். ஸ்தேவானின் பார்வையில், இயேசுவைக் கொலை செய்தது தற்செயலாக நடந்திருக்கவில்லை. இவர்கள் அனைவருமே குற்றப்பிண்ணனியோடு தான் இருந்திருக்கிறார்கள். ஏனென்றால், இயேசுவுக்கு முன்பிருந்த இறைவாக்கினர்களைக் கொன்றார்கள். இறைவாக்கினர்க்கெல்லாம் இறைவாக்கினராக இருந்த இயேசுவையும் கொன்றார்கள். ஆக, கொலை செய்வது என்பது அவர்களுக்கு புதிதானது அல்ல. அது மட்டுமல்ல, அத்தோடு அவர்கள் நிற்கப்போவதில்லை. இவற்றை எடுத்துரைக்கின்ற தன்னையும் கொலை செய்ய இருக்கிறார்கள், என்று தன்னுடைய சாவை ஸ்தேவான் முன்னறிவிக்கின்றார். ஸ்தேவானின் போதனையைக் கேட்டவர்களின் பதில்மொழி என்ன? ”அவரைப் பார்த்துப் பற்களை நறநறவென்று கடித்தார்கள். இவ்வளவுக்கு வஞ்சக எண்ணமும், பகைமை உணர்வும் அவர்களது உள்ளத்தில் எழக்காரணம் என்ன? தூய ஆவி இல்லாத நிலை தான், அவர்களின் பழிவாங்கும்...
