லூக்கா 1:5-25 இறையேசுவில் இனியவா்களே! நம்பிக்கையோடும் ஆர்வத்தோடும் திருப்பலிக்கு வந்திருக்கின்ற உங்கள் அனைவரையும் அன்போடு வரவேற்கின்றேன். இந்த நாள் உங்களுக்கு இனிய நாளாக இருக்கவும், நீங்கள் நல்ல உடல்நலத்துடன் வாழவும், உங்கள் வாழ்க்கை ஆசீர்வாதமாக அமையவும் உங்களை வாழ்த்துகிறேன். ஆண்டவரிடம் மன்றாடுகிறேன். செக்கரியா – எலிசபெத்து தம்பதியினர் பிள்ளை இல்லாமல் மிகவும் இகழ்ச்சிக்குள்ளாயிருந்தனர். அக்கம் பக்கத்தார் அவர்களை அதிகம் வார்த்தைகளால் குத்தினர். அவர்கள் மனம் பாரமாக இருந்தது. அந்த பாரத்தை, அந்த இகழ்ச்சியை ஆண்டவர் நீக்குவதை இன்றைய நற்செய்தி வாசகம் நம் கண்முன் வைக்கிறது. அவர்களின் இகழ்ச்சியை நீக்கிய ஆண்டவர் நம் இகழ்ச்சியையும் நீக்குவார் என்ற ஆசீர்வாதத்தையும் வழங்குகிறது இன்றைய வழிபாடு. அதற்காக நாம் மனதில் நிறுத்த வேண்டிவைகள் இரண்டு: 1. கடவுள் மறப்பதில்லை பல நாட்கள் கடந்திருக்கலாம். ஆனால் நாம் கேட்டது கண்டிப்பாக நடக்கும். நாட்கள் கடந்துபோய்க்கொண்டிருக்கிறதே கிடைக்குமா? என்று நினைக்க வேண்டியதில்லை. செக்கரியா – எலிசபெத்து தம்பதியனர் ஏற்கனெவே...

“Joseph…an upright man…” –Matthew 1:19 St. Joseph would have likely heard today’s first reading and psalm response at some point in his life. Perhaps he had even committed them to memory. Little did he suspect when he initially heard these passages proclaimed that he one day would be raising and rearing the King prophesied in these readings. Yet Joseph surely imitated and emulated the qualities attributed to this King, for the Gospel describes Joseph as a righteous man (Mt 1:19).
