The enemies of Jeremiah paid close attention to his words — not to be changed by them but to find a means to destroy him. திருப்பாடல் 31: 4 – 5, 13, 14 – 15, 16 தாங்க முடியாத துன்பத்தில் இருக்கிற ஒரு நம்பிக்கையாளரின் செபம் தான் இந்த திருப்பாடல். துன்பங்களுக்கான காரணத்தை அவரே ஏற்றுக்கொள்கிறார். அவர் செய்த தவறுகள் தான், இப்போது துன்பங்களாக அவர் முன்னிலையில் வந்திருக்கிறது. கடவுளை விட்டு விலகிய அவரது தவறு தான், இன்றைக்கு மிகச்சிக்கலான கண்ணியில் அவரை சிக்க வைத்திருக்கிறது. இந்த சிக்கலிலிருந்து தன்னை விடுவிக்கக்கூடியவர் கடவுள் மட்டும் தான், என்று அவர் தீவிரமாக நம்புகிறார். அந்த நம்பிக்கையை செபமாக எழுப்புகிறார். கடவுளிடத்தில் அவருடைய அருளை வேண்டுவதற்கு தகுதியில்லாத நிலையில் இருப்பதாக, ஆசிரியர் நினைக்கிறார். ஏனென்றால், கடவுளின் அன்பையும், இரக்கத்தையும் மறந்து அவர் வாழ்ந்திருக்கிறார். இப்போது கடவுளிடத்தில் தேவைக்காக திரும்பி வந்திருக்கிறார். அவர் கடவுளின் அருளைப் பெற தகுதியற்ற நிலையில் இருக்கிறார். தகுதியற்ற நிலையில் இருக்கிற அவருக்கு, கடவுள் தன்னுடைய அன்பை வழங்கினால் மட்டும் தான், இந்த துன்பத்திலிருந்து...
