“He is there praying.” –Acts 9:12 The early Church was a praying Church. The Church was born at Pentecost after a nine-day gestation period of prayer (see Acts 1:14). After Pentecost, the Church devoted itself to prayer (Acts 2:42). So powerful were the Church’s prayers that sometimes the building where the Church prayed shook (Acts 4:31). The apostles concentrated on prayer and the ministry of the Word (Acts 6:4). The early Church was a praying Church. The immediate results of the Church’s prayers were mixed. The number of disciples “enormously increased” (Acts 6:7), but persecution against the Church likewise increased....

திருத்தூதர் பணி 8: 26 – 40 பிலிப்பு தூய ஆவியாரால் வழிநடத்தப்படுகிறார். எங்கேயெல்லாம் தூய ஆவி அவரை அழைத்துச் செல்கிறாரோ, அங்கெல்லாம், அவர் மறுக்காமல் செல்கிறார். அப்படி செல்கிற வழியில், இறைவார்த்தையின் மீது தாகம் கொண்டிருக்கிற ஓர் அரச அலுவலரைப் பார்க்கிறார். அவர் தான் எத்தியோப்பிய நிதியமைச்சர். அவர் எசாயாவின் இறைவாக்கு நூலைப் படித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறார். அவருக்கு தெளிவாக ஒன்றும் விளங்கவில்லை என்றாலும் கூட, ஆர்வத்தோடு படித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறார். தூய ஆவியாரால் வழிநடத்தப்பட்ட பிலிப்பு அவருக்கு விளக்கம் கொடுக்கிறார். இந்த பகுதி, இறைவார்த்தையின் மீது ஆர்வம் உள்ளவர்களுக்கு இறைவன் எப்படியெல்லாம் உடனிருந்து கற்றுக்கொடுக்கிறார் என்பதை நமக்கு தெளிவுபடுத்துகிறது. எத்தியோப்பிய அமைச்சருக்கும், பிலிப்புவிற்கும் பழக்கம் கிடையாது. இருவரும் வேறு வேறு இடங்களில் இருக்கிறவர்கள். ஆனால், இருவரும் ஒன்றிணைகிறார்கள். அது இயல்பாகவே அமைந்த நிகழ்ச்சி அல்ல. மாறாக, இறைவனால் உருவாக்கப்பட்ட திட்டம். எப்போது நாம் இறைவனை நோக்கிச் செல்ல வேண்டும், இறைவனை இன்னும்...
