Lord Jesus, today we bring to You the oldest members of our families and society. We pray that Your presence comforts them in their loneliness. Keep them focused on You, rather than on their aches and anxieties. We pray specially for those who are living alone. Watch over our parents and grandparents, Oh Jesus. May they have angels for their aid whenever they are alone. Help us too to serve them well, all their lives, without leaving that important responsibility to others. Amen.

ஆலயத்தின் பெண்களுக்கான இடத்தினருகே, 13 காணிக்கைப்பெட்டிகள் அமைக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது. எக்காளம் போன்ற அமைப்பில் அவைகள் அமைக்கப்பட்டிருந்தன. அதனுடைய மேற்புறம் குறுகியும், கீழ்ப்புறம் அகன்றும் காணப்பட்டிருந்தன. ஒவ்வொரு காணிக்கைப்பெட்டிகளும் ஒவ்வொரு நோக்கத்திற்கானவை. ஆலயத்தில் பலிபொருட்களை எரிப்பதற்குப் பயன்படும் விறகுகளை வாங்க, ஆலயப்பொருட்களை பராமரிக்க, நறுமணப்பொருட்கள் வாங்க என்று பல தேவைகள் ஆலயத்திற்கு இருந்தன. அவற்றை நிறைவேற்ற, இந்தக்காணிக்கைப் பயன்படுத்தினர். இயேசு இந்தக்காணிக்கைப்பெட்டிகள் இருந்த இடத்திற்கு அருகே அமர்ந்திருக்கிறார். செல்வந்தர்களும் காணிக்கைப் போடுகின்றனர், ஏழைக்கைம்பெண்ணும் காணிக்கைப் போடுகின்றார். செல்வந்தர்கள் அதிக பணத்தைக் காணிக்கையாக செலுத்துகின்றனர். ஏழைக்கைம்பெண்ணோ, தன் பிழைப்பிற்காக வைத்திருந்த அனைத்தையுமே போட்டு விடுகிறாள். அடுத்த வேளை சோற்றுக்கு என்ன செய்யப்போகிறேன்? என்பது தெரியாது. யாராவது எனக்கு உதவுவார்களா? அவளுக்கு தெரியாது. ஆனால், கடவுளின் பராமரிப்பில் எனக்கு நம்பிக்கை இருக்கிறது என்பதன் வெளிப்பாடுதான் அவளின் அந்தக்காணிக்கை. அவளின் நம்பிக்கை பணத்தில் அல்ல, கடவுளின் பராமரிப்பில். இந்த இரண்டு காசுகளும் கடவுள் எனக்குத்தந்தது. அதைக்கடவுளுக்கே காணிக்கையாக்குகிறேன் என்று,...

“Test your servants.” –Daniel 1:12 The four young Israelite men asked their master to test their faith (Dn 1:12). Likewise, the poor widow in the Gospel reading asked God to test her faith by giving the Lord all her money (Lk 21:4). பணித் தலைமை என்னும் புதிய தலைமைத்துவத்தை அறிமுகப்படுத்தியவர் ஆண்டவர் இயேசு. இன்றைய நாள்களிலும் ஆளுகை மேலாண்மைப் பாடங்களில் பணித் தலைமைத்துவத்தை ஓர் அவசிய பாடமாகவும், இன்றியமையா மாதிரியாகவும் காட்டுகின்றனர் தலைமைத்துவ வல்லுனர்கள். இயேசுவை அரசராகக் கொண்டாடும் இந்த நாளில் நமது சிந்தனையும், செயல்பாடும் அவ்வாறே இருக்க வேண்டும். இயேசு அறிமுகப்படுத்திய அரசாட்சி, இயேசு மாதிரி காட்டிய பணித் தலைமைத்துவம். இயேசுவைப் போல நாம் வாழ்கிறோமா என்று நம்மையே கேட்டுக்கொள்வோம். ஒவ்வொரு கணவரும் தம் மனைவியை எப்படி நடத்துகிறார் என்று சோதித்துப் பார்க்க வேண்டும். அதிகாரமும், அடிபணியச் செய்யும் ஆளுமையா, அல்லது பணிவிடை செய்யும் அன்பின் ஆளுகையா? அதிகாரிகள் தங்கள் ஊழியர்களை நடத்தும் விதம் எப்படி? பணித் தலைமையா, அல்லது அதிகாரத் தோரணையா? ஆசிரியர்கள் தங்கள் மாணவர்களை நடத்தும் விதம், பங்குத் தந்தையர் பங்கு மக்களை நடத்தும் விதம்… இவை அனைத்திலும் நாம் இயேசுவைப் பின்பற்றி தலைவர்களாக இருக்கலாம், அல்லது அதிகாரமும் ஆணவமும்...
