Lord Jesus, You have given us so much, on Thanksgiving Day, today, we pray for the gift of gratitude. Thank You, Father, for having created us and given us families. Thank You for being with us in all our joys and sorrows, for Your comfort in our sadness, Your companionship in our loneliness. Thank You for yesterday, today, tomorrow and for the whole of our lives. Thank You for friends, for health and for grace, for unknown blessings on their way. For food, water and clean air, blessings we take for granted. May we live every day conscious of all...

இந்நாட்களில் முழு மனித வாழ்கை வாழ்வதில் பல போராட்டங்களைச் சந்தித்து வருகிறோம். மனித நேயத்தோடு வாழ்ந்தால் பல இழப்புக்கள். நற்செய்தி விழுமியங்களை முதன்மைப்படுத்தி வாழ்ந்தால் ஏராளம் தொல்லைகள். ஒதுங்கி வாழ்ந்தாலும் வாழ முடியாது. பின் வாங்கவும் முடியாது, கூடாது. இத்தகைய சூழல்களில் இன்றைய இறைவாக்கு ஆறுதலாக இருக்கிறது. “என்பெயரின் பொருட்டு எல்லாரும் உங்களை வெறுப்பார்கள். இருப்பினும் உங்கள் தலைமுடி ஒன்றுகூட விழவே விழாது”. (லூக் 21’17-18) இறைவனை நம்பி வாழ்கிற மனிதனுக்கு துன்பங்கள் இழப்பகள் அதிகம். அவமானங்கள் ஏராளம். நான் யாரை நம்பியிருக்கிறேன் என்று எனக்குத் தெரியும் என்ற பவுலடியார் தன் வாழ்வி அடுக்கடுக்காக துன்பங்களை அனுபவித்தபோதும் துவண்ட விடவில்லை. கிறிஸ்துவுக்காக வாழ்வதால் நம் பொருட்களுக்கு சேதம் உண்டாக்கலாம். பெயரை தூற்றலாம். உறவுகள் நம்மைப் புறக்கணிக்கலாம். சலுகைகளை இழக்கலாம். பதவி இல்லாமல் போகலாம். காவல் நிலையமும் நீதி மன்றமும் இழுக்கப்படலாம். குடும்பமே காட்டிக்கொடுக்கலாம். அஞ்ச வேண்டாம். கலங்க வேண்டாம். பயப்பட வேண்டாம்....

“Under the influence of the wine…” –Daniel 5:2 At this time of year, the world is obsessed with “Holiday” shopping events for Thanksgiving and Christmas. The Church, however, has a different focus. The liturgical year comes to a close this Saturday, and a new Church Year begins with Advent this Sunday. The Church focuses upon being prepared for the comings of Jesus at Christmas, at the hour of our death, and in His Second Coming. Tomorrow, in the USA, people celebrate the holiday of Thanksgiving with feasting and the drinking of alcohol. Some of these gatherings will feature “drunken show”...
