ஒரு யூதக்குடும்பத்தில் ஆண்குழந்தை பிறக்கின்றபோது, ஒருசில சடங்குகளை நிறைவேற்ற வேண்டியிருந்தது. முதலில், குழந்தை பிறந்த எட்டாம் நாள் அதற்கு விருத்தசேதன சடங்குகளை நிறைவேற்ற வேண்டும்(லேவியர்12: 3). இரண்டாவது, தலைப்பேறு ஆண்குழந்தைகள் அனைத்தும் ஆண்டவருக்குரியது. விடுதலைப்பயணம் 13: 2 ல் பார்க்கிறோம்: “தலைப்பேறு அனைத்தையும் எனக்கு அர்ப்பணம் செய்: இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களிடையே மனிதரிலும் கால்நடைகளிலும் கருப்பையைத்திறக்கும் எல்லாத் தலைப்பேறும் எனக்குரியவை”. இதற்கான காரணம்: எகிப்தில் பார்வோன் மன்னனின் கடின உள்ளத்தின் பொருட்டு அனைத்து ஆண் தலைப்பேறுகளும் இறந்துபோயினர். ஆனால், ஆண்டவர் இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களின் ஆண் மகன்களைக் காப்பாற்றினார். எனவே, எல்லாத்தலைப்பேறுகளையும் இறைவன் தனக்கெனத் தேர்ந்துகொண்டார். அவர்கள் கடவுளுக்கு உரியவர்களாயினர். அவர்களை மீட்பதற்கும் சடங்குகளை வகுத்திருந்தனர். எண்ணிக்கை 18: 15 – 16 “மனிதராயினும் விலங்காயினும் முதலில் கருப்பை திறக்கும் அனைத்திலும் அவர்கள் ஆண்டவருக்குப்படைக்கின்ற ஒவ்வொன்றும் உன்னுடையது. ஆயினும் மனிதரில் தலைப்பேறானவனை நீ மீட்டுக்கொள்வாய். அவற்றின் மீட்புத்தொகை ஐந்து வெள்ளிக்காசுகள்”(ஒரு மாதக்கூலிக்கு சமம்). மூன்றாவது,...

Lord Jesus, You gave Yourself to us, only out of love. We pray that the human race is truly grateful for You, the Son of the Living God and give Your name the honour it deserves. Have mercy and convict the ones who commit sins against Your Holy Name. Forgive blasphemies against Your name. May each one of us utter ‘Jesus’ with the awe that You deserve and not in vain. Teach us to truly adore and rejoice in the power of our only Saviour’s name – the name that angels bow down to. Amen.

காடுகளும், திராட்சைத்தோட்டங்களும், பாழடைந்த இடங்களும், கல்லறைத்தோட்டங்களும் பேய்களின் வாழிடம் என்று யூத மக்கள் நம்பினர். இயேசுவும் அவருடைய சீடர்களும் வந்தநேரம் இருளடைந்திருந்த நேரமாக இருந்திருக்க வேண்டும். தீய ஆவி பிடித்திருந்த அந்த மனிதனின் பெயர் இலேகியோன் என்று சொல்லப்படுகிறது. இந்த வார்த்தை உரோமைப்படைப்பிரிவில் பயன்படுத்தப்படுகிற வார்த்தை. ‘இலேகியோன்’ என்பது உரோமைப்படையின் 6,000 போர் வீரர்கள் கொண்ட பெரும் படைப்பிரிவு. பேய் பிடித்திருந்த அந்த மனிதனுக்கு இந்த வார்த்தை பழக்கப்பட்ட வார்த்தையாக இருந்திருக்க வேண்டும். தனக்குள்ளாக பெரிய தீய ஆவிகளின் படையே குடிகொண்டிருக்கிறது என்கிற அவனது எண்ணத்தின் வெளிப்பாடுதான் இந்தப்பதில். மேலும் பாலஸ்தீனம் உரோமையர்களுக்கு அடிமையாக இருந்த இந்த காலக்கட்டத்தில், வன்முறைகள், கலகங்கள் ஏற்பட்டால், அதனை அடக்க இந்த படைப்பிரிவு கொடுமையான முறையில் மக்களை அடக்கி ஒடுக்கியது. இதுவும் இந்தப்பெயரை தீய ஆவி பிடித்தருந்த மனிதன் பயன்படுத்தியதற்கு காரணமாக இருக்கலாம். தனக்குள்ளாக வன்முறையான தீய ஆவிகள் குடிகொண்டிருப்பதை இப்படி அவன் வெளிப்படுத்தியிருக்கலாம். தீய...
